A new note
Creating a new note can be done by double clicking the icon in
the notification tray, by selecting the Hotkey Ctrl+Shift+Alt+N or
by choosing the New Note option in the menu. A new note
appears on your screen and you can immediately use it. The default title of a new note is the
current date and time.

Editing notes
A note consists of a small toolbar with several buttons. Each
button shows a hint when the mousepointer is moved to it. The
hint contains the shortcut key for the specific function, like
Ctrl+B for Bold and F2 to change the note's title. The normal
keys are available, like Ctrl+A to select all the text in the note
and Ctrl+End to move to the end.
Double clicking the notes caption, decreases the note's height,
double clicking again shows the complete note.
Each note has a right mouse button menu. It contains the standard
Edit functions and options for deleting the note, setting it's hotkey,
printing the note and setting the zoom level.
File handling
When the program is started, a folder called Data is created
next to the executable file. In this folder all the notes are saved.
Each note consists of an INI file containing the settings of the
specific note (it's place, it's size, it's background color, etc.). A
second file (RTF extension) is placed in the Data folder which
contains the text of the note itself.
By default every two minutes a note is saved, if changes have
been made. In the Settings box this time can be changed.
Hotkeys
There are several hotkeys. Each hotkey is activated by pressing
Ctrl+Shift+Alt simultaneously and the hotkey's letter or figure.
The fugures 1 through 9 can be assigned to specific notes. The
following hotkeys have functions within the program.
A - Show all notes;
D - Explore the Data folder;
H - Hide all notes;
N - Create a new note;
S - Save all notes.
Settings
The program has a settings box with multiple tabs. Using the different tabs the
following settings can be made.
- Show notes on taskbar
by checking this checkbox, the notes appear on the taskbar and on the Alt-Tab fast program switch;
- Show hotkey in caption
if checked, shows a little box with the hotkey number on the right of the caption;
- Show zoom in caption
if checked, shows the current zoom level in the caption on the right;
- Save every ... minutes
each note when changed is saved every 2 minutes by default. A new number can be inserted;
- Stick border ... pixels
when notes are moved over the screen they tend to stick to the screen borders. The border
within which this happened can be changed to a value between 0 and 200 pixels. 0 pixels
effectively turns the feature off;
- Data directory
with this option the directory where the data files are kept, can be set. Use the browse
button below the edit field to browse to a location;
- use inches
this setting applies to the current tab only. It toggles between inches and centimeters
for the next two options.
- Bullet offset
this is the offset of the text after a bullet or number. So the length from the left margin
to the text itself (not the bullet or number).
- Tabstop
with this setting the default tabstop can be changed. The length in the box determines
the length from tabstop to tabstop for the complete text.
